This month, AFI has added new videos to its Osborne Collection for all movie lovers to watch, including Robert Osborne’s famous film introductions for THE THIEF OF BAGDAD (1940) and A RAISIN IN THE SUN (1961) to THE LEARNING TREE (1969) and VICTOR/VICTORIA (1982) and many more.
The collection, which is a celebration of the life and work of one of America’s foremost film historians and legendary TCM host, was originally launched on May 3, 2021, in honor of Osborne’s birthday.
A true time capsule of American film history, The Osborne Collection features a variety of Osborne’s introductions for films such as THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES, BRINGING UP BABY, BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID, FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, NATIONAL VELVET, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST, NORTH BY NORTHWEST, PSYCHO, A STAR IS BORN (1954), THE THIN MAN and TOP HAT. To further enrich the viewing experience, the Collection is connected to the AFI Catalog of Feature Films, the most comprehensive chronicle of the first century of American cinema which was used as a reference by Osborne.
