Watch: Kathleen Kennedy on Producing

AFI Board of Trustees Chair Kathleen Kennedy recently joined AFI Fellows for an online Harold Lloyd Master Seminar to speak about what she’s learned over the course of her career as one of the most well-respected and sought-after producers in the business. Kennedy is currently the president of Lucasfilm and co-founder of Amblin. She started her producing career on E.T.: THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL and has since produced or executive produced more than 70 feature films, which have collectively garnered 120 Academy Award® nominations and 25 wins. Kennedy is an eight-time Academy Award®-nominee and the recipient of the Academy’s prestigious Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award.

In these two clips, Kennedy discusses her approach to pitching and the importance of supporting a singular vision as a producer – and how to avoid “development hell.”
