Co-written and directed by Oliver Stone, WALL STREET (1987) stars Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, Daryl Hannah, Hal Holbrook and Terence Stamp, as well as AFI Life Achievement Award honoree Michael Douglas in an iconic performance as Gordon Gekko, whose mantra – “Greed is good” – earned a place on AFI’s ranking of the art form’s most memorable quotes and earned the character a dubious place among cinema’s greatest villains. Capturing the fast pace and excess of late ‘80s finance in New York City, the film was shot by AFI Alum Robert Richardson (AFI Class of 1979).
