A hilarious and heartfelt mockumentary twist on “Waiting for Godot” set in Blaine, Missouri at the time of the small town’s big anniversary – its 150th – WAITING FOR GUFFMAN (1997) features an all-star ensemble of contemporary comedy greats – including Catherine O’Hara, Fred Willard, Eugene Levy, Parker Posey, Bob Balaban and Christopher Guest (who also co-wrote with Levy and directed) – as well as production design by Joseph Garrity, long-time discipline head at the AFI Conservatory. At film’s end, Corky St. Clair’s (Guest) curio shop features – among other great details – a REAMINS OF THE DAY lunchbox and his MY DINNER WITH ANDRE action figures.
