Featuring AFI Life Achievement Award honoree Harrison Ford in an early role, as well as production design by AFI Honorary Degree recipient Dean Tavoularis, THE CONVERSATION (1974) is an enduring masterpiece written, produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola – who tonight will join the ranks of great artists who have earned the highest honor for a career in film – to take his “deserved place beside leaders in other arts” as the award’s 50th recipient. First established in 1973 to honor an individual whose career in motion pictures has greatly contributed to the enrichment of American Culture, the award will be presented to Coppola at a Gala Tribute TONIGHT at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
