The AFI FEST Podcast: Nicole Kidman, Dev Patel, Luke Davies and More Talk LION
Following the AFI FEST 2016 presented by Audi Special Screening of LION on November 11, writer Luke Davies, actress Priyanka Bose, actress Nicole Kidman and actor Dev Patel sat down to discuss the film with audiences. They were joined by special guest Saroo Brierley — whose nonfiction book “A Long Way Home” and personal story inspired the film — who is played by Patel.
In LION, five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train that takes him thousands of miles across India, away from home and family. Saroo must learn to survive alone in Kolkata, before ultimately being adopted by an Australian couple. Twenty-five years later, armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth, he sets out to find his lost family and finally return to his first home.
