Appearing on five of the American Film Institute’s lists of the greatest American films of all time – including both the original and the 10th anniversary editions, as well as among the greatest screen villains, movie quotes and thrills – TAXI DRIVER (1976) features iconic work from two AFI Life Achievement Award honorees, director Martin Scorsese and star Robert De Niro, in addition to a touchstone screenplay from AFI Alum Paul Schrader (AFI Class of 1969). The film was also produced by Julia Phillips, who was in the inaugural class of the AFI Directing Workshop for Women – and features an early role from AFI Honorary Degree recipient Jodie Foster.
