Included on the American Film Institute’s original list of the greatest films of all time, STAGECOACH (1939) was also ranked among AFI’s accounting the art form’s great westerns. Star John Wayne was named by AFI as one of cinema’s greatest screen legends, and director John Ford was the recipient of the inaugural AFI Life Achievement Award in 1973.
