A misfit sports film reteaming director George Roy Hill with THE STING and BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID star Paul Newman, SLAP SHOT (1977) was edited by film veteran Dede Allen – whose vast and varied work also includes THE HUSTLER, BONNIE & CLYDE, SERPICO, DOG DAY AFTERNOON, THE WIZ, THE BREAKFAST CLUB and REDS – and who was honored for her career by the American Film Institute with an AFI Honorary Degree in 1990.
