Directed by Hal Ashby and named one of the funniest films of all time by the American Film Institute, SHAMPOO (1975) stars inarguable and incomparable film legend and AFI Life Achievement Award honoree Warren Beatty, who also produced the film and co-wrote it with AFI Honorary Degree recipient Robert Towne. Another degree recipient – Richard Sylbert – provided the film’s iconic production design. With an all-star cast that includes Julie Christie, Goldie Hawn, Jack Warden and a pre-STAR WARS Carrie Fisher, Beatty also co-stars opposite Lee Grant, who was among the first class of artists accepted to the AFI Directing Workshop for Women – which launched in 1974 and is celebrating its golden anniversary this year.
