The haunting, harrowing story of SCHINDLER’S LIST (1993) was brought to the screen by two AFI Life Achievement Award honorees – director Steven Spielberg and composer John Williams – and was shot by AFI Alum Janusz Kamiński (AFI Class of 1987). AFI Board of Trustees Chair Kathleen Kennedy served as an executive producer on the film. An important record of a time that we must never forget, the film has been recognized by the American Film Institute across four of its lists of the cinematic touchstones – appearing on both the original and 10th anniversary editions of the greatest American films, as well as on AFI’s list of the art form’s most inspiring films. On AFI’s list of cinema’s greatest heroes and villains, Liam Neeson’s Oskar Schindler was counted among the former and Ralph Fiennes’ Amon Goeth among the latter.
