Starring James Stewart and Grace Kelly – both named by the American Film Institute among the greatest screen legends of all time – REAR WINDOW (1954) appeared on both the original and 10th anniversary editions of AFI’s accounting of America’s greatest films of all time, as well as in its list of cinema’s greatest thrills and greatest mysteries. In 1980, Stewart earned the highest honor for a career in film when he was recognized with the AFI Life Achievement Award – a year after the award had been conferred upon the film’s iconic director, Alfred Hitchcock.
