Co-written, co-directed and produced by AFI Life Achievement Award honoree Warren Beatty, HEAVEN CAN WAIT (1978) was adapted from the 1941 film, HERE COMES MR. JORDAN. Initially, Beatty approached Peter Bogdanovich, Mike Nichols and Arthur Penn to direct before deciding to helm the picture himself with co-director Buck Henry – marking the feature film directing debuts for both Beatty and Henry.
