Directed by John Cassavetes, GLORIA (1980) stars Gena Rowlands as a woman who takes a young boy under her wing when his family is killed by the mob. The film marked the seventh collaboration between the director and the star. Cassavetes was a senior filmmaker-in-residence at the AFI Conservatory – and Rowlands received an Honorary Degree from the AFI Conservatory in 1998.
