From writer, director and star Albert Brooks, DEFENDING YOUR LIFE (1991) is an inspired comedy set in a waystation between our world and the next, where the recently deceased examine the choices they’ve made. Co-starring AFI Life Achievement Award honoree Meryl Streep, the film also features honoree Shirley MacLaine in a cameo role – as well as Lee Grant, recipient of an AFI Honorary Degree, honoree of the AFI DOCS Charles Guggenheim Symposium and a member of the AFI Directing Workshop for Women inaugural class.
