Appearing on the American Film Institute’s list of the most inspiring American films of all time, COAL MINER’S DAUGHTER (1980) stars Sissy Spacek and was written by Tom Rickman – an Alum of the AFI Conservatory’s first-ever class in 1969. Rickman went on to serve at the Conservatory for many years as the Screenwriting Discipline Head.
