The 2022 Sundance Film Festival officially concluded Sunday, January 30. Despite pivoting to an online festival in light of the Omicron variant, the festival was marked by a new wave of innovative narrative and documentary storytelling, including cutting-edge debuts which tackled a variety of diverse and timely subjects such as political dissent (NAVALNY), racial bias (EMERGENCY) and reproductive health (CALL JANE).
The winners in the U.S. Dramatic, U.S. Documentary, World Dramatic and World Documentary competitions as well as the Next and the Short Film sidebars were announced to close out the festival, with the Audience Awards, Grand Jury and Special Jury Prizes also presented. Congratulations to the following AFI projects who were awarded honors at this year’s festival.
