Named among the art form’s great courtroom dramas by the American Film Institute, director Otto Preminger’s ANATOMY OF A MURDER (1959) features AFI Life Achievement Award honoree James Stewart at the head of an all-start cast that includes Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara and George C. Scott – and also features one of cinema’s iconic one-sheets, designed by AFI Honorary Degree recipient Saul Bass. John D. Voelker (under the pseudonym Robert Traver), the author of the source novel – based on a real case he adjudicated while serving as a justice on the Michigan Supreme Court – acted as a technical advisor on the film adaptation of his work.
