AFI Alum Scott Silver Scores BAFTA and WGA Nominations for JOKER

Congratulations to AFI alum and Academy Award®-nominated screenwriter Scott Silver who received a BAFTA nomination and a WGA nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for co-writing JOKER, alongside writer/director Todd Phillips. This marks his second BAFTA and WGA nominations, after he was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for THE FIGHTER in 2011.

JOKER, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this fall, earned the most BAFTA nominations of any film this year with 11 in total. The BAFTAS awards ceremony will be hosted at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Feb. 2. The 2020 WGA Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 1.

Silver and Philips recently released their acclaimed and darkly subversive screenplay for JOKER online.
