A coming-of-age story about a Mexican–American young woman (America Ferrera) on the cusp of adulthood, REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES was co-written – and based on the stage play – by Josefina López, who attended AFI’s TV Writer’s Workshop in 1999. The film’s director, Patricia Cardoso, recently spoke to the next generation of filmmakers at the AFI Conservatory.Â
