Released in 1977 to wide acclaim and massive box office success, NETWORK (1976) made Academy Award® history when the film’s star Peter Finch became the first person to win a posthumous Oscar® in an acting category. Finch passed away just two months prior to the ceremony. Osborne contended that what “makes this film work so well” is star William Holden.
