A STAR IS BORN (1954) marked Judy Garland’s first completed film since SUMMER STOCK (1950), and her first picture since her dismissal from M-G-M, the studio to which she had been under contract for many years. In the interim, she reportedly suffered much unhappiness, made several suicide attempts, divorced and remarried.
