Twentieth Century-Fox president Spyros Skouras believed that HEAVEN CAN WAIT (1943) was "one of the most important films ever to be released by the organization." The picture, which marked Ernst Lubitsch's first production for Fox and his first film in Technicolor—a process that was very uncommon for movies other than musicals and large epic spectacles at the time—received Oscar® nominations for Best Picture, Best Cinematography (Color) and Best Direction.
