Featuring a script and production design by AFI Honorary Degree recipients Robert Towne and Richard Sylbert, respectively, as well as performances from two AFI Life Achievement Award honorees – Jack Nicholson and John HustonCHINATOWN (1974) appears across a number of the American Film Institute’s lists celebrating the best of the art form. The film appears on both the original and 10th anniversary edition lists of the greatest films of all time, as well as among cinema’s greatest mysteries, thrillers and film scores. Huston’s character of Noah Cross was also counted among the art form’s most contemptible villains, and the film’s iconic final line – “Forget it, Jake, it’s Chinatown.” – appeared on AFI’s list of the most memorable movie quotes.
