Inside the Archive

In 1941 Hollywood talent agent and film producer Charles K. Feldman established the Hollywood Victory Committee to entertain the troops and boost morale – both at home and abroad – by offering “camp shows” that showcased the talents of singers, dancers, comedians and film stars.

This collection of memorabilia includes a letter from Ed Sullivan in which he thanks Feldman for his support. He also references Jimmy Walker on stage with the crew of a torpedoed tanker at an Emergency Relief Show at Madison Square Garden, pictured next. The other image features a starlet performing for troops at an army base in the U.S.
