Ed Zwick's Civil War drama tells the story of the 54th Regiment of Massachusetts, the volunteer all black company that fought for the Union. Denzel Washington won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of Private Trip, a runaway slave who, in standing up to commanding officer Matthew Broderick, displays extraordinary courage. Filmed at locations in Boston and Georgia, with Civil War re-enactors as extras, GLORY is a stirring tribute to the historic black regiment that fought so bravely for their dignity.
