Festival Programs and Events--Sponsorship Opportunities
Community / Outdoor Programs
Free concerts and screenings draw thousands to the Silver Plaza. In 2005, SILVERDOCS screened MAKE IT FUNKY after live performances by New Orleans blues giants Big Sam's Funky Nation and Walter Washington.

Guggenheim Symposium
Named in honor of 4-time Academy Award %A8 winning filmmaker Charles Guggenheim. Past honorees include Barbara Kopple (HARLAN COUNTY, USA).

DOCS Rx strand
This special program of screenings and seminars will use documentary as a point of departure for discussions addressing critical international health issues.

CELEBRATE SOUTH AFRICA! strand
This special film sidebar will present diverse views, engaging stories and emerging voices from the new South Africa.

Opening Night Screening
Washington, DC VIPs and Festival guests have enjoyed the red carpet premieres of films including MIDNIGHT MOVIES, SEEDS OF PEACE and CHARLIE: THE LIFE AND ART OF CHARLIE CHAPLIN attended by special guests such as Lance Armstrong, Geraldine Chaplin and Joel Siegel.

Sterling Award Ceremony and Closing Night Party
Includes the presentation of the Sterling Awards and Audience Awards for best feature and short documentaries.

Individual evening events
Themed panel discussions with national experts. In 2005, TIME Magazine's Matt Cooper moderated a discussion with Gilbert Gottfried, Fred Willard and others entitled 'God Save the Dirty Joke'.

Doc Talks
These up-close discussions have featured industry luminaries such as Werner Herzog and Richard Dreyfuss.

Late Night Parties
Filmmakers and guests wind down in the Cinema Lounge at these after-hour parties.

International Documentary Conference Opportunities
Now in its third year, the International Documentary Conference brings nearly 500 filmmakers and industry professionals together for panels and symposia on the craft and business of documentary film.

Keynote Address
Past speakers have included filmmaker Penelope Spheeris (DECLINE OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION) and Indian filmmaker and activist Anand Patwardhan.
