SPACEMAN: A BASEBALL ODYSSEY is the story of Bill Lee, renegade left-handed pitcher from the 1970s. After playing for both the Red Sox and the Expos, Bill was eventually blackballed from the league because of his outspoken, opinionated, politically incorrect personality. He traveled to China, Russia and Canada to play baseball, and at nearly sixty, he's still barnstorming around the world, shaking things up in baseball. A BASEBALL ODYSSEY follows Bill to his favorite spot, Cuba, where he says the locals play baseball for the right reason: love of the game. In a startling contrast to today's sports legends, money and fame just aren't that important to him.

The film is full of classic '70s baseball scenes, interviews with Bill's teammates and friends, and great footage of Bill's controversial media interviews. It's the story of a true Renaissance man who made his career in a sport where few could understand him. His interests range from Godard films and Kurt Vonnegut to Chinese philosophy and world politics. Listening to his take on almost any subject is enjoyable. Best of all, he's still in the game! Bill's charming and engaging personality will draw you in, and his compelling story will keep you hooked. A wonderfully fun film.
