Devastated by the loss of his wife in a shocking attack, a grief-stricken father and his two children prepare for the inevitable return of the invading military forces but find a wandering circus at their doorstep instead. As the family grows closer to their new neighbors, the supernaturally gifted troupe returns a sense of wonder and whimsy to the traumatized family. A silent film with something to say, it's easy to forget the lack of dialogue with such gorgeous cinematography, breathtaking performances from members of Cirque du Soleil and a wonderful sense of magic realism.
