Callow thief Marko Mandic, while burgling the home of a retired Communist-era general, finds some intriguing documents hidden behind the paintings he had his sights set on. Mandic fails to recognize the documents' value--they contain evidence of post-war executions of Nazi collaborators by high-ranking Yugoslav officials--and carries on in his carefree way, romancing both his sweet girlfriend Barbara Cerar and his naughty second girlfriend Maja Martina Merljak. He doesn't realize that the general has dispatched a former secret service assassin to recover the stolen documents, putting everyone in grave danger. Writer-director Vinko Moderndorfer (SUBURBS) mines the political past for inspiration in this stylish thriller, which combines bawdy comedy with extremely gruesome, horror-tinged violence.
