MARIMBAS FROM HELL [Las Marimbas del Infierno]
Lugging his instrument around town in search of work, down-on-his-luck marimba player Don Alfonso decides to start a band of his own. He turns to his delinquent godson for help and together they track down heavy metal legend Blacko. Merging their seemingly incongruous styles and overcoming personal differences, they form Marimbas from Hell. Skillfully blurring the lines between documentary and fiction and humor and melancholy, the film has been winning awards at festivals worldwide. Best Picture, 2011 Morelia Film Festival; Grand Jury Prize, Best Ibero-American Feature and Official Selection, 2011 Miami Film Festival.
