URUGUAY HIROSHIMA
This film is Pablo Stoll's first solo effort after the untimely death of his filmmaking partner, Juan Pablo Rebella, with whom he made 25 WATTS and festival favorite WHISKY. Stoll's own brother Juan, a rock musician, is the focus of the film, which follows his peregrinations for a day, the soundtrack being the songs Juan is listening to on his Discman (excellent Uruguayan post-punk), with all the dialogue inaudible and communicated to the audience as intertitles, as in a silent film. The result is a surprising and surreal cinematic experience. Official Selection, 2009 Toronto and 2010 Rotterdam Film Festivals.
