MEXICO
BLACK SHEEP [Oveja negra]

On a lonely Mexican highway, a truck driver picks up a hitchhiker at night. To pass the time, the hitchhiker begins to relate an on-the-road story about two ranch hands, José and Kumbia, who, fed up with their boss Don Leandro's mistreatment, plot to make off with his herd of sheep and sell it at the US border. But a love triangle involving José, his beloved, María, and Don Leandro's jealous and meddlesome son Jeronimo threatens to undermine the two friends' plans for escape. An impressive debut film by Humberto Hinojosa Ozcáriz, featuring stunning photography by Kenji Katori.
