Nina Hoss won Best Actress laurels at the 2007 Berlin Film Festival for her riveting portrayal of Yella Fichte, a woman from the former East who leaves her family and friends behind to make it in the cutthroat business world of the West. After a tumultuous farewell with her violent ex-husband Ben, Yella begins her new job in Hanover, alongside colleagues whose business dealings have a fierce menace of their own. As Yella becomes romantically involved with a mysterious venture capitalist, Christian Petzold's metaphysical thriller becomes increasingly surreal and disorienting.
