An intriguing story of international diplomacy and personal intrigue from Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi, winner of the Venice Golden Lion for his THE YEAR OF THE QUIET SUN. After the death of his beloved wife, Zbigniew Zapasiewicz (also the star of QUIET SUN), the Polish ambassador to Uruguay, meets an old friend, famed Russian actor Nikita Mikhalkov. Tensions mount as he begins to suspect that Mikhalkov once had an affair with his wife and was an infiltrator in the anti-Communist movement.
