SCIENCE IN THE CINEMA
Wednesdays at 7:00, July 12 through August 16
This summer, AFI Silver will once again host Science in the Cinema, an exciting public program presented by The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Science Education (OSE). This popular summer film festival is open to the public and intended for a broad range of individuals who enjoy the cinema and have an interest in science and medicine. Every Wednesday for six weeks, the series presents a different film with a medical-science-related theme. This year, the series will touch on a variety of science topics including schizoaffective disorder; obsessive compulsive disorder; Tourette syndrome; forensic pathology; craniofacial abnormalities and Operation Smile; end-of-life issues; and physicist Neils Bohr. Following each screening, a guest expert will comment and participate in a Q&A session with the audience.
Admission to the series is FREE! All films will be shown with open captions. American sign-language interpreters will be available for the post-film discussions.
For more information on this year's lineup of films and guest speakers, visit science.education.nih.gov/cinema. Those requiring other reasonable accommodations to participate should contact OSE at least five days prior to the event (email: moorec@mail.nih.gov; tel: 301.402.2470; TTY: 301.496.9706).
