Sweden's submission for Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. Director Josef Fares delves deep into his Lebanese family background to tell the story of a young boy in the 1980s, whose life is thrown into turmoil when war forces him to relocate to Sweden. A sensitive portrait of youthful idealism and imagination in the face of hardship, with a heartwarming, heroic performance by young lead Imad Creidi.

Director Josef Fares was born in 1977 in Lebanon. Ten years later, he and his family moved to the town of Örebro, Sweden, where he later attended film school. His 2000 film, JALLA! JALLA!, was a Swedish box office smash. In 2003, Josef directed KOPS, which proved equally popular with audiences in Sweden. Both films were distributed in over 20 countries.
