Andrea Arce Duval holds a BA in audiovisual communication from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and possesses a strong passion for visual storytelling. She has worked on several film productions in Peru, Mexico and the United States. Some of the movies in which she’s worked as a Production Designer include SHARE by director Pippa Bianco (Cannes Film Festival 2015, Cinéfondation Selection), BEHIND THE MIRRORS (Palm Springs International ShortFest 2012, Best of the Fest Award) and A DOCTOR’S JOB (Telluride Film Festival 2011, official selection), the latter two both directed by Julio O. Ramos.

Robert Brecko

Robert Brecko received his degree in visual communication, photography and film design from the University of Applied Sciences in Dortmund, Germany. He has worked as a freelance art director, set designer and photographer in Berlin. His list of clients includes brands such as Adidas, Hugo Boss, Montblanc and Nike. He has been responsible for the concept design and production management for these companies on site-specific locations in Italy and Germany, among other projects. Additionally, Brecko worked as a commissioned editorial and portrait photographer for several magazines, including Achtung, Dazed and Confused and I Love You.

Brittany Elias

Brittany Elias is from Palm Harbor, Florida, and holds a BFA in theatre design & technology from the University of Central Florida. Her theatre work has allowed her to travel throughout the United States. She has most recently been seen at the Westside Theatre (Off-Broadway), the Tony Award®-winning Long Wharf Theatre, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, Tibbits Opera House, Weathervane Playhouse, American Stage Theatre Company and the Utah Festival Opera. She has had the opportunity to work on shows designed by Broadway greats Eugene Lee, Michael Yeargan, and Allen Moyer. Elias transitioned from theatrical design to production design in hopes of continuing to design worlds and tell stories in an exciting new way. She has designed five short films while at AFI and is the current recipient of the Shirley A. Olivadoti Scholarship.

Kelly Fallon

Born and raised in Indiana, Kelly Fallon attended the University of Notre Dame where she earned a BA in art history and European studies. Curious to know more about the world of film and television, Fallon relocated to Los Angeles after graduation. While working as an art department assistant on her first feature film, Kelly fell in love with the creative process of visual storytelling. Over the past two years at AFI, she has designed nine short films and five experimental visual projects. Her short film AWAKEN, an official Cannes Short Film Corner selection, won the Best Production Design Award at both the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival and the Los Angeles Movie Awards.

Daniel Frank

Born and raised in New York, Daniel Frank attended Colgate University where he studied under a prominent Broadway set designer and earned a degree in art history and architecture. After a stint working in set construction and doing freelance design work, Frank was hired by a Manhattan-based commercial real estate firm where he spent three years helping to finance development throughout the United States. Although he continued to do design work when he could, it was not until his acceptance into the AFI Production Design program that he decided to pursue his passion full time. Since Frank moved to Los Angeles in 2013, he has spent every day designing for film and stage.

Felipe Herrera

Felipe Herrera was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, and showed a passion for the arts at an early age. After attending ENAP-UNAM for a Bachelor of Visual Arts in sculpture and painting, he ventured to California to pursue an in-depth film education. Herrera attended workshops at the New York Film Academy and graduated with an Associate’s Degree from the Los Angeles Film School with an emphasis in production design. In 2013, he production designed his first feature film, MY NAME IS VIVIENNE, as well as other short films and music videos. He currently serves as the co-founder and vice president of a Mexican-based nonprofit organization that supports and protects the cultural arts.

Mari Lappalainen

Mari Lappalainen was born and raised in Finland, where she graduated as an exhibition builder in 2007. She first discovered an interest in film while working for a Finnish set construction and design company. After three years of working, travelling and living in New York and London, Lappalainen enrolled in a set design for screen course at London’s acclaimed Wimbledon College of Art. During her studies she was involved in various projects ranging from stop-motion animation to large scale feature films. During her time in the United States, she has designed and art directed various short films.

Daniela Medeiros

Daniela Medeiros has a double degree — one in architecture and urbanism from the Pontifical Catholic University, and the other in industrial design from the Federal Technological University of Parana in Brazil — allowing her to design in different scales from small props to large-scale urban planning. As an undergraduate, Medeiros deepened her knowledge through a two-year internship an architectural firm and two international study experiences: a semester at the renowned architecture school ETSAM in Madrid, Spain, and one year at the Visual Arts, Design and Marketing Institute in Lisbon, Portugal. After graduation, she studied film for a year and began a post-graduate course in scenic design. Medeiros’ professional experience includes work on multiple short films and video clips.

Ella Thompson

Ella Thompson received a Bachelor of Interior Architecture and a minor in French from Chatham University in 2013. As an undergraduate, Thompson worked as an art department intern at the City Theatre in Pittsburgh where she helped with props, set decoration and construction. She was also an director at Point Park University where she assisted on several short films. Over the summer of 2014, Thompson art directed a short film, LUFTMENSCHEN, for the AFI Conservatory Directing Workshop for Women. In 2015, she production designed her thesis film for AFI, GOODBYE VESNA, which will be released in the fall.
