JAMES L. BROOKS (AFI Conservatory Artistic Director, AFI Trustee)
James L. Brooks is a three-time Academy Award®-winner and 20-time Emmy® award-winner. He began his career as a television writer and would later produce many classic television shows such as LOU GRANT, THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, RHODA, ROOM 222, THE SIMPSONS, TAXI and THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW. Brooks has been the Artistic Director of the AFI Conservatory since 2013.
HEIDI LEVITT (AFI Class of 1987, Producing)
A graduate of the AFI Conservatory and Barnard College, Heidi Levitt has cast such films as THE ARTIST, JFK, LAKEVIEW TERRACE and NATURAL BORN KILLERS. Recently, she cast and is an associate producer on CESAR CHAVEZ, directed by Diego Luna. Levitt also cast the Wim Wenders film EVERY THING WILL BE FINE, which stars James Franco, Rachel McAdams and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
JACQUELINE LYANGA (AFI Class of 2001, Screenwriting)
Director, AFI FEST presented by Audi
Jacqueline Lyanga is the Director of AFI FEST, the American Film Institute's annual film festival that showcases the best festival films of the year in the movie capital of the world. A graduate of AFI Conservatory, she has been a guest and moderator of industry panels at the Berlinale, the Cannes Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. Prior to working for AFI FEST, Lyanga worked for a number of other film organizations including the Independent Film & Television Alliance, the Slamdance Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival.
BRIAN UDOVICH (AFI Class of 2004, Producing)
Brian Udovich is an award-winning feature film producer and AFI Conservatory graduate whose credits include ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE, BAD TURN WORSE and THE WACKNESS. Udovich's thesis film, THE MONSTER AND THE PEANUT, was the recipient of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant and won a Student Emmy® for Best Dramatic Student Film in 2004. For three years, he has served as the committee chair for the Independent Spirit Awards' selection of the Piaget Producers Grant.
CASPAR VON WINTERFELDT (AFI Class of 2005, Producing) AFI National Council Founding Member
After a 15-year career on Wall Street, Caspar von Winterfeldt left the world of finance to enroll as a Producing Fellow at the AFI Conservatory. Subsequently, he went on to work as a producer for late Academy Award®-winning producer John Daly. Von Winterfeldt formed his production entity, Fortune Films LLC, in 2006.
