SHORTS ... AND TO THE POINT

By JOHN WILDMAN, Contributing Writer

TREVOR ANDERSON (ROCK POCKETS)
Sometimes a little film magic can happen when no one is looking or expecting it. In the case of Trevor Anderson's short film, ROCK POCKETS - that happy accident happened when a band decided not to continue with a music video project after he had already shot some footage at a state fair. Using that footage and adding a very funny voiceover, he not only transports us back to an '80s version of that state fair, he gives us some insight into a young gay man's very particular dream - and his method of making it a reality.

What was your favorite '80s band? I was such a dork, I used to brag on the school ground that I didn't like any rock music until "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor came out and I loved it. That's still pretty dorky, I know.

Jeans of choice - Designer or Levis? Doesn't matter, as long as they're tight. I'm grateful the electro-rock kids have brought tight jeans back. The decade of baggy grunge/skater pants did nothing for my libido.

What's different about straight rock pockets vs. gay rock pockets? Usually the price of the jeans. Maybe the difference is jeanetic.

What will happen in the feature-length sequel to ROCK POCKETS? Hmmm... How about one of those intertwining storylines about three different couples rock pocketing around a fairground? Oh, and then a strange corndog virus breaks out and the carnival is quarantined and they have to fight off zombie carnies! Yeah! That'd sell! Right?
