AFI FEST Reduces Ecological Footprint with Best Buy Recycling Events
by Michelle Paster AFI FEST Daily News
This year at AFI FEST 2006 presented by Audi, organizers place nearly as much emphasis on the environment as they do on the films. AFI FEST is committed to reducing its ecological footprint during the 12 days of the festival.
With Best Buy as a contributing festival sponsor, AFI FEST is encouraging patrons to recycle, giving them many options to drop off recyclable materials in the AFI FEST Rooftop Village and at Best Buy's Atwater Village location on November 10 and 11.
Festival-goers who recycle are eligible for prizes and incentives including free screening vouchers for AFI FEST.
Best Buy has recycled over 13 million pounds of electronics in the past several years.
Brad Anderson, Vice Chairman and CEO of Best Buy Inc., stated: "Best Buy was one of the original sponsors in the launch of the Environmental Protection Agency's Plug-In to eCycling program to promote the safe recycling of used Electronics."
The company will pick up and recycle for free, he adds, of unwanted televisions and appliances.
Anderson is also a member of the American Film Institute Board of Trustees.
