Police inspector Castellon is brought on to investigate, and he proceeds to question everyone involved in the case: Almendrita, Paco's other lover; Mercedes' best friends; policeman Guadalupe Salazar, who asked Mercedes to marry him; and American composer Aaron Copland, a current regular of the night spot.
