MONICA
FORGOTTEN SILVER
(New Zealand, 1995 52 min.)
Peter Jackson
(Heavenly Creatures) and Costa Botes's wickedly clever
hoax "documentary" is a highly amusing satire
on the recent spate of historical documentaries made
to celebrate the centenary of cinema, about a supposedly
forgotten pioneer of international cinema. Several
well-known personalities appear in the film, including
Leonard Maltin, Harvey Weinstein.David Stratton, Variety.
Plays with A TRAM IN MOSCOW (France/Russia/U.S., 1996
54 min.) On a lovely autumn day in Moscow, a tram makes
its final journey. During the trip, we discover a whole
gallery of characters, of travelers for whom the line
is home. The tantrums, taunts and catcalls of the regular
travelers reflect the hopes, the joys and the doubts
of present-day Muscovites.
