Bona is an 18-year-old woman of a lower middle class family in the Philippines. Young and romantic in the midst of the poverty and hardship around her, she follows a handsome young actor named Gardo home, only to witness him being beaten by a group of men. Bona takes him home and cares for him, but is promptly beaten by her father upon her return home the next day.
