Here's a recap of some of Saturday's special events:
Breaking and Entering the film Business, produced by Jennifer Fox, took place at the Cinegrill Lounge inside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. It started at 1:30, and by 1:35 there was standing-room-only. Approximately 250 people observed and participated openly in the panel discussion hosted by Billy Frolick, author of WHAT I REALLY WANT TO DO IS DIRECT. The panel included Liz Cane, Alex Zamm, John Musca, James Mangold, Jon Herzfield, and John Keitel all of whom have either made successful feature films or are up-and-coming new directors. Subjects and questions ranged from dealing with agencies and talent to methods of survival in this competitive and fast paced industry. Also, film students were there asking questions about the best ways to get their work distributed and exhibited.
Moving Pictures: Where Film Art Meets Fine Art, produced by Jeff Eagle. This auction was hosted at the Margo Leavin Gallery in West Hollywood ,where a crowd of 300 showed up to cast their bids for impressive works of art donated by Hollywood filmmakers such as David Lynch, Dennis Hopper, John Waters, Larry Clark, Cindy Sherman and Robert Longo . The auction succeeded in raising twelve thousand dollars for the American Film Institute.
