Some say that the worlds of film and art are so similar that one is constantly reflecting the other. Many others contend their fundamental opposites. On October 25, 1997 these two worlds collide in the name of charity as many of today's top filmmakers and artists each donate one piece of their art to be auctioned as part of a benefit for AFI. All the proceeds will go to continuing AFI's mission of preserving and enhancing the art of the moving image. Film and art afficionados will enjoy complimentary refreshments and cigars in the indoor/outdoor setting as they experience all that the artists featured have to offer. Quite simply, MovingPictures is dedicated to the filmmakers whose artistry extends to other mediums and to the artists whose works contain film themes.
