PROGRAM:
FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER (1960 85 minutes)
Cast: Vincent Price, Mark Damon, Myrna Fahey Director:
Roger Corman
This is a first rate horror film and the first of Corman's
Poe adaptations. When a suiter arrives at the Usher
house to claim his beautiful fiance, Price as her older
brother in one of his best performances comes between
them because of a deadly family curse. Truly magnificent
in its dark unravalling of this Poe tale. Score by
Les Baxter
THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH (1964 86 minutes)
Cast: Vincent Price, Hazel Court, Jane Asher Director:
Roger Corman
The most Bergman like of Corman's films, this timeless
tale has Price as evil Prince Prospero a Satan worshipper
living it up in his castle with his entourage while
the countryside is being ravished by a plague. Beautifully
photographed by Nicolas Roeg and ultra stylistic.
PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE (1956 79 minutes)
Cast: Gregory Walcott, Tom Keene, Vampira, Tor Johnson
& Bela Lugosi Director: Ed Wood Jr.
Hailed as the worst movie ever made. Pompous aliens
try conquering earth by resurrecting corpses from a
San Fernando Valley cemetery. This cult film is a
must see. Last appearance by Lugosi who died during
filming.
I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE (1958 78 minutes)
Cast: Tom Tryon, Gloria Talbot, Ken Lynch & Jean
Carson Director: Gene Fowler Jr.
Invaders take over humans in grand plan to reproduce.
Newly wed wife notices some strange behavior in her
idyllic husband and friends. Good effects and performances
make this a cult classic. Edited by George Tomasini
(Vertigo, North by Northwest, Pyscho)
THE TINGLER (1959 82 minutes)
Cast: Vincent Price, Darryl Hickman & Judith Evelyn Director:
William Castle
Classic Castle thriller with Price as a coroner who
discovers a creature who grows on peoples spines from
fright. The only way to subdue it is by screaming.
First movie reference to LSD, as Price takes a trip.
Great audience participation at end.
DAUGHTER OF HORROR (1955 75 minutes)
Cast: Adrienne Barrett, Bruno DeSota & Ben Roseman Director:
John Parker
No dialogue, just very strange narration from rumored
Ed McMahan and a weird soundtrack ties this bizarre
story together about a insane woman on a hellish spiral
into the darkest pits of society and depths of insanity.
BLACK SUNDAY (1958 83 minutes)
Cast: Barbara Steele, John Richardson Director: Mario
Bava
Eerie and atmospheric, this starts with a bunch of medieval
witches being ritually killed with spiked masks. The
witches swear revenge and come back to terrorize their
descendants a couple hundred years later. Steele plays
both witch and innocent beautiful descendant. Beautifully
scored by Les Baxter.
MR. SARDONICAS (1961 89 minutes)
Cast: Ronald Lewis, Audrey Dalton & Guy Rolfe Director:
William Castle
Recluse Count with a cursed sardonic goulish grin which
he got from greedily defiling his father's grave, lures
his wife's old boyfriend/doctor to cure him with a
new medical treatment. Bizarre, creepy and sick.
CHOPPER CHICKS IN ZOMBIETOWN (1990 86 minutes)
Cast: Kristina Loggia, Martha Quinn, Don Calfa, Jamie
Rose & Billy Bob Thornton
Director: Dan Hoskins
Just what the title says. Tough sexy biker chicks
roll into small town where a sadistic scientist and
his midget sidekick are killing townspeople and turning
them into Zombies. Billy Bob Thornton as an ex flame
of one of the gang helps this oddball farce. Unforgettable
scenes with some very liberated woman.
Plus a collection of wild and strange trailers.
