Jessica Lange with her unlimited range and bold, courageous portrayals of strong, independent women has received six Academy Award nominations; COUNTRY, SWEET DREAMS, FRANCES and MUSIC BOX. She was presented with a Best Actress Oscar and a Golden Globe for BLUE SKY and Best Supporting Actress for TOOTSIE.

Lange was raised and went to college in Minnesota, she later moved to New York where she worked as a model and studied acting. Her modeling led her to be cast in her first film KING KONG. Two years later she was Bob Fosse's Angel of Death in ALL THAT JAZZ. She received critical accclaim in Bob Rafelson's steamy remake of THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS JessicaTWICE opposite Jack Nicholson. Following the release of FRANCES and TOOTSIE she became the first actor in 25 years to be nominated for two Oscars in the same year. Ms. Lange has continued her career with well chosen projects and a successful run on Broadway as Blanche Dubois (her favorite role) in Tennessee William's A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE with Alec Baldwin later made into a Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie. She is a mother of three and lives with long term companion Sam Shepard. AFI Fest is proud to Langehonor her cinematic accomplishments with a live on-stage tribute hosted by film historian Leonard Maltin that will include film excerpts and a candid interview with one of Hollywood's most versitile and strongest leading ladies.

Leonard MaltinBest known as resident film buff on Entertainment Tonight and author of Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide, Mr. Maltin has established himself as one of the country's leading film writers and historians. He has authored books such as: THE GREAT AMERICAN BROADCAST, OF MICE AND MAGIC: A HISTORY OF AMERICAN ANIMATED CARTOONS, THE GREAT MOVIE COMEDIANS, THE DISNEY FILMS AND THE ART OF THE CINEMATOGRAPHER. He was President of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association in 1995 & 1996. In 1997 he was named to the National Film Preservation Board, to help select 25 films annually to join the Library of Congresss' National Film Registry. His daily syndicated radio program Leonard Maltin on Video is heard throughout the United States and Canada
