Giger, Alexis Smith and John Baldessari. All the money raised will go to continuing AFI's mission of preserving and enhancing the art of the moving image. Attendees from the worlds of art and entertainment will enjoy complimentary food, refreshments and cigars in the indoor/outdoor gallery setting.

For the inaugural Spotlight Awards, jury prizes for the New Visions and Official Competition sections will be presented at a ceremony October 30th. In conjunction with the American Film Institute, the United States Postal Service will announce the subject of the 1998 Commemorative Stamp in the "Legends of Hollywood" series with an unveiling of the stamp artwork. The unveiling will take place at the Hollywood Entertainment Museum followed by a special screening of a classic Hollywood film at the Mann's Chinese Theater. The evening will conclude with a tribute reception following the screening at the Hollywood Entertainment Museum.
