Summary:
Harold of Hickoryville, the bashful son of a country sheriff, is tricked into allowing a medicine show into town, headed by Mary Powers. His father instructs him to stop the show, but he only succeeds in becoming a butt for "Flash" Farrell's tricks, to the delight of Hank Hooper, the town bully, who accidentally sets the tent on fire. Harold's father orders them to leave town, then is himself accused of stealing public funds actually stolen by Flash. Convinced of his inferiority, Harold declines to join the search party, but unwittingly he finds himself confronted with Sandoni and Flash, who are dividing the swag. Harold's cleverness wins over Sandoni's strength when he discovers the brute's fear of water; he saves the Hickory name and wins the girl.
